BIOCREDIT HCV Ab is an in vitro diagnostic medical device for the qualitative detection of hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibodies in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. Hepatitis C is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Most people infected with HCV are unaware of their infection, as they do not show symptoms, but over 50% of infected individuals develop life-threatening chronic hepatitis C. Individuals infected with HCV produce antibodies that remain in the body for life, even after natural or medical elimination of the virus. Therefore, detecting the presence of HCV antibodies is the primary method for diagnosing HCV infection.
